Public Speaking
Heidi Fischer has given over 100 presentations, in front of crowds in the range of 3 to 300.
She began giving public presentations in March 2018, through the Schizophrenia Society's: Partnership Program. In 2023 Heidi received her 5 year award, in recognition of her longstanding commitment to this program.
Heidi also books private engagements. During these presentations she shares her personal story and gives an overview of information about mental illness, this can be tailored to specific audiences as needed. Additionally, Heidi has a workshop available titled: Understanding C-PTSD.
Heidi has spoke on conference panels, video presentations, professional training days, and has done numerous radio & tv/web interviews. Heidi has over 80 articles published on The Mighty, and has many writings elsewhere including as a guest writer for the CPTSD Foundation. Heidi has appeared on camera with CTV News, Global News, and Shaw Spotlight. She is honored to have been quoted in Psychology Today and The Los Angeles Times.
Booking an Engagement
Heidi currently has limited availability for private speaking engagements! Please email mentalhealthyxe@gmail.com to express your interest. Please indicate your speakers’ fee.
Heidi is also available to lead a workshop she created titled Understanding C-PTSD. This presentation gives an overview of trauma, how it impacts people, the difference between PTSD and C-PTSD, specific symptoms, trauma-informed practice, treatment options, and an exploration of why some treatments may not work or can be harmful. Resources and a presentation outline are also provided. This workshop takes approximately 2hrs.
A presentation from the Partnership Program can be booked through the Schizophrenia Society (click here). This presentation typically consists of 2-4 lived experience & family presentations, a professional presentation, and a question period. These must be booked through the society and there is no guarantee Heidi will be on the panel.
